This treatise is an excerpt of a longer treatise written to defend hesychasm. In this treatise the Saint defends the psychosomatic methods employed by the monks as well as the authentic and genuine spiritual experience of seeing the uncreated light of Mt. Tabor. St. Gregory Palamas (1296-1359), Athonite monk, Archbishop of Thessaloniki, and one of the Pillars of Holy Orthodoxy, wrote much in defense of the practice of the Jesus Prayer and the vision of the uncreated light.
